Tag Plate Requirements
Valve tag plates should be permanently attached with stainless steel wire or chains. Engraved or stamped tags resist corrosion better than painted or printed alternatives.

Asset hierarchy: Location, system, subsystem, and equipment level organization
Bill of materials: Spare parts linked to each valve for maintenance efficiency

Criticality Classification

Environmental compliance valves require documented inspection intervals. Production-critical valves affect plant output if they fail. Non-critical valves are maintained on lower-priority schedules.

Digital records including photos, datasheets, inspection reports, and repair history should be linked to valve tag numbers in document management systems.
